Mr Birchum episode 1 review (SPOILERS)
Review 2
(SPOILER ALERT)
(DON'T TAKE MY WORD AS THE WORDS OF THE LORD, WATCH THE SHOW YOURSELF)
Wow
Ben Shapiro and Adam Carolla make an adult tv show
They try to make Family Guy but for the "Anti-Woke" idiots
Just another symptom of hacks trying too hard to make the next big Family Guy, Simpsons, or King of the Hill but failing to realize why those 3 became iconic in the first place
The Simpsons became famous because it showcased a family dynamic that wasn't seen on TV at the time
Family Guy became famous not just because The Simpsons were losing relevance and the same spunk that made the first 11 seasons good, but because of it's ridiculous and madcap humor that took advantage of the family sitcom being a cartoon
King of the Hill became famous because it was a very down to earth cartoon that made the traditionalist father more of a real person rather than a stereotype
I could be wrong on those assessments so don't quote me on that, but Mr. Birchum could've took the advice of those 3 shows that it wants to be so bad
I just watched this first episode and it was abominable and boring
People look at stuff like Recess and King of the Hill and wonder why it had to be a cartoon, but Mr Birchum is the show that makes me wonder why it had to be a cartoon
a show created by 2 artists with a vision who make silly cartoons where 2 critters make anyone smile
and upon further inspection in the fucking credits, I just found out that Mr Birchum doesn't have an in house crew of artists, rather a hire overseas crew in Spain that did all the art for the show
It's too bad the artists weren't given enough incentive let alone any recommendations of art direction or talent for the show
but yeah, it's good to know that this uncreative, bland, tepid, and nothing show has people with no creative bones hiring an animation studio with nothing to work off of but a script
they complain that immigrants are stealing their jobs yet hire a group of worms in an office to animate for the show
Rocko's Modern Life Static Cling was right on the money with shows like this
But for this Daily Wire show, the process probably went something like this
"Just hire a group of animators to animate this "anti-woke" sitcom except give them no creative inspiration, art direction, and money"
I hope they have a good union, but then again this is The Daily Wire, they hate unions so I feel so bad that animators are force to work on this garbage with little to no pay
All in all, Mr Birchum is not worth your time and I feel bad for the Spanish artists who had to work on this instead of other projects that would give them inspiration
avoid Mr Birchum at all costs
He's not even like the misguided and aloof Mr Birchum from Crank Yankers
This show is like The Mighty B! but with no artistic integrity, no artist assistance, no wit, no whimsy, and just plain not fun
Not only is Amy Poehler funny, but she at the very least has taste and often lets the animators go crazy with the show's visual style
Stay away from Mr. Birchum, it's a boring show
3/10

I just watched this first episode and it was abominable and boring
People look at stuff like Recess and King of the Hill and wonder why it had to be a cartoon, but Mr Birchum is the show that makes me wonder why it had to be a cartoon
With Recess, it took place in the real world and the characters looked almost like real humans
However, it took advantage of it being a cartoon and had art direction that made the school look like prison fitting the narrative of TJ and his friends avoiding the glaring sight of Mrs. Finster
Not to mention there are stuff in the show that you wouldn't see right away in real life
Like Randall's lizard like appearance
Upside Down Girl's obsession with being Upside Down and not at all suffering any headrush
The Diggers who dig through anything, even concrete

A fucking monarchy in the playground
A clique of girls named Ashley with their own made clubhouse in the playground
among other things that really caught my eye when watching Recess
King of the Hill is the more down the earth show, but it's art style is more of an extension of Beavis and Butthead's aesthetic (think back to the movie) but you ground it more to reality
With Mr. Birchum, there was no artistic aesthetic it was going for let alone any creative or interesting design choices that made it stand out
Everyone looks like The Daily Wire hit the make a cartoon button and the AI made a bland fusion of Brickleberry, Mr Pickles, and Rick and Morty

It doesn't do anything about the fact that it's a cartoon sitcom except for 2 throwaway jokes about animals that are painfully tame and don't go any further
and on top of that, It's just not funny, not even interesting, and not even worth the outrage it may get soon
Now I can kinda see why people would be mad about Velma as opposed to this bland piece of crap
Sure, Velma is annoying, uncreative, overly-meta and referential, cynical, and indecisive on whether we should sympathize with our titular character or not
But at least it has some type of aesthetic (even though it just looks like a more boring version of Venture Bros)
Mr Birchum looks like crap
that's it

Mr Birchum Episode 1: Welcome Back, Mr Birchum
(AGAIN, SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T WATCHED IT
(FOR THE LIFE OF YOU, YOU'LL GO MAD WITH WHAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT)
It's A plot a standard plot about our main protagonist going to school and trying to teach his students how to properly do woodshop while the administration is keeping an eye on him to see any cracks in his methods
The B plot (yes there is one) is about the wife trying to sell a house of someone but Mr Birchum's daughter doesn't want the wood to be painted so she sabotages the sale

The B plot (yes there is one) is about the wife trying to sell a house of someone but Mr Birchum's daughter doesn't want the wood to be painted so she sabotages the sale
The A plot of the episode is mostly comprised of anti-woke boomer talk about how "Men used to be men", "phone bad", "consent is for the weak", "white man are screwed", and "safe spaces are stupid" and a throughout I just pause, groan, and move on because it's overly contrived but not angering enough where I would revolt
The humor is not only wring dry, but is also milquetoast as well
It's just a typical adult tv show but blander and "anti-woke" despite blending in with Brickleberry and other similar shows
Just as Santa Inc was painfully leftist and pandering to activists, Mr. Birchum was painfully right-ist and pandering to conservative
however, Santa Inc is more infuriating because Candy (the main character) is a total maniac and yet we're supposed to root for her despite her impulsive and shitty behavior
meanwhile The Daily Wire makes Mr Birchum seem like he's making sense and that the rest of the world is unreasonable and mean
and with that, I feel nothing because it's been a thing since the dawn of time
It's the typical right wing approach to satire where they have the conservative act reasonable and the liberals act unreasonable and unrealistic
like how no human being would act
Mr. Karponzi feels like a total strawman of a leftist
He feels like a character that lives in the heads of The Daily Wire to only be the person that they hate
They made the demon that they fear in their heads
Look, I'm leftist and I don't friggin ask for people's consent to shake their hands, I just say "wanna shake my hand" and go about my day
I also don't obsess over other people's lifestyles, I'm not a busybody who stalks someone's life just to ruin it in the name of social justice
that's why we have Twitter folks
but seriously, I have hung out with leftist white people who think the same way I do and I never see them apologize for being a white man, ask for consent for everything, speak over the voices of marginalized groups (which happens but not with the leftists I hang out with), and constantly stalk the livelihoods of their detractors to ruin their lives for not being "woke" or whatever
Listen Daily Wire, us leftists don't act like this complete tool
not all leftists are the same

Moving on
The B plot is boring
the mom is boring and I'm just waiting for the episode where she leaves and cucks Birchum only to have an episode where he gets cucked and assaults his wife for cheating because that's what conservatives want
Honestly, there's nothing else I can speak about with this show besides James Arnold Taylor playing a nerd in a Hawaiian shirt singing Birchum's praises

did I forget to mention that Adam Carolla in this show is fucking annoying
I can't stand the way Mr Birchum speaks in the show, it's just the same gravely voice with the same inflictions every time
Honestly, it's boring, is not worth the outrage, and made a big mistake taking down a titan like Smiling Friends

Even if the special's message was about how the creator makes the show work rather than the IP, it can be seen as how there are some shows like Brickleberry, Paradise PD, Mr Pickles, and Big Mouth that just hire a group of underpaid people and gullible buttheads to work on a project with no creative backbone in it's body
But for this Daily Wire show, the process probably went something like this
"Just hire a group of animators to animate this "anti-woke" sitcom except give them no creative inspiration, art direction, and money"
