Fixed Review (SPOLIERS) Plus A rant about people who hate Genndy's Fixed and the backwards mindset people have about the visual medium

(SPOILER ALERT, MAY CONTAIN STUFF THAT'S NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART)

(DON'T LOOK YOU PUSSY)

Anyway, I guess before I review Fixed since it finally came out now, I gotta give you guys a disclosure about this blogpost

I kind of wrote this earlier as a rant piece on how the animation community is full of hive-minded parroting missionary pansies who all think the same way and shun anyone who thinks or laughs at anything different than what's in their comfort zone, but time has passed and it finally came out so I now have a obligation to review this movie

So I'll warn you well in advance that you're gonna see me rant about humor before you hear my thoughts on Fixed and to that I say, You don't have to find raunchy humor, dogs having sex, or even dog balls funny, but you can't just act like anyone who thinks otherwise is inferior to you

And please, if you're gonna have an opinion about this movie, try to watch it, and to it's entirety, I don't care how hard it is to watch, you don't give up instantly, you keep on going and finish it when you're ready

I'm tired of you Unprofessional critics out there reviewing movies you haven't seen and or haven't even finished, you're unreliable, you're opinion doesn't count, and you're just as lazy as Jay Sherman

Hell, I'm not even a critic, but at least I try to watch something in it's entirety, even if it's as bad as Velma

Maybe, grow a damn pair of balls and try to watch something fully before reviewing it Mr. So-called-Critic

With that out of the way, here's my opening rant

(BEFORE FIXED CAME OUT)

I gotta be honest here, I'm at a loss here at this point

I have 2 toon reviews underway

I have so many problems in my life at the moment regarding my body

and I could also be going to a pool resort with a friend or even swimming in a gym pool care free

but I feel it's in my best interest to tell a message towards animation fans

towards the visual medium in general

Guys, I think you're all full of shit

I love Fixed

It's not perfect, and the trailer makes it look crummy in comparison to the words said about it's Annecy premiere earlier this year

But I still have hope and I will not give up on it

Fixed by Genndy Tartakovsky so far is a silly coming to age movie about a dog about to live his life before he gets neutered and while it's crude and lowbrow, it embraces the fact that it's crude and lowbrow and who knows, there might be some substance that will knock people's socks off

I'm barely excited for stuff that goes to streaming, I think some of those coming to streaming movies are mediocre and the ones that I like don't get much attention or are just misunderstood

I feel you Wendell and Wild
I feel you Turning Red

and trailers these days, even for amazing things like Puss and Boots: The Last Wish and Looney Tunes: The Day the Earth Blew Up, aren't that good anyway so we shouldn't dwell on that detail and still try to give it a chance

don't dive into the pool until the pool is full

But most of the complaints I've seen from this upcoming movie that HASN'T EVEN CAME OUT YET!!! are just people mad because they don't like crude humor or supposedly mindless crude humor

They think they're better than everyone else because they love shows that make them think and take themselves seriously over mindless irreverence

but you know what, maybe we need mindless irreverence now more than ever

every adult show now is trying to make us think and cry amongst failing as if they're even trying to be as good as Moral Orel, I'm looking at you Rick and Morty and Bojack Horseman

And all of these parrots believe that the only way for crude and edgy stuff to work is if there's a statement to be made, which while It may make you look smart, it fails if your statement stinks or is some centrist BS

I'm looking at you South Park

Man Bear Pig sucks for this reason alone, which is why I like when South Park is mindless and stupid rather than making a point all the time, and not a good point (especially when this show is at their worst)

those type of shows and decisions from these so called geniuses make me disgusted by the idea of making this big brained take or even making something overly serious and filled with story arcs amongst constantly making people think

I don't know, maybe it's the leniency of telling whatever story you want or having something be self-contained is why I like stuff like Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Beavis and Butthead for crude and offbeat humor even if there's a point to be made in some episodes, especially in Beavis and Butthead

hell, I like The Brothers Grunt and I feel it's a misunderstood cringe fest full of golden age cartoon like stories about The Brothers trying to find their lost brother Perry and getting sidetracked all while seeing a very ugly world that is just as ugly as the Brothers, supposedly a comedy about modern living that was only misunderstood because "Ugh it's gross" and "ugh it's lowbrow"

Hell, if you think I hate shows that have serious points to make amongst have serious things to say about a character or the world they live in, I recommend you watch Duckman

It has paved the way for the crude humor you see on South Park and Family Guy, stays committed to any serious storylines and emotional beats unless there's a cleverly setup or stupidly funny joke in the end, and never took itself too seriously when it didn't need to

and knew when to have us feel bad for Duckman and when not to amongst never wasted my time making that decision *cough* Bojack!

I also love Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, It's gross and crass and has an art style that is a hodge podge of Don Martin and Basil Wolverton but all in all was nothing to get angry about and there were even some really clever jokes put into it like the episode where Festro creates a clone army of Farts and they turn on him after saying "your people"

they're crude, ugly, irreverent, and crass, just like Fixed

So I see no problem with the crude and irreverent humor in the film and to be honest the humor comes from the Dogs being horny and looking ridiculous while doing it so It's fine to me

But a lot of people do, and a lot of their reasoning isn't the fault of the film, or even the trailer, it's just their perspective telling them they don't like crude humor

because COMEDY IS SUBJECTIVE!!!

Not everyone needs to find your humor funny and vice verse

and no Ralph The Movie Maker there's no science to making people laugh

no Mr Enter there are no "Rules of Comedy"

Firstly, clever =\= funny because not every sees the joke as clever or even funny

people laugh at stuff like Freddy Got Fingered and Superbad not just because of the clever jokes it has amongst it's , but also because they irreverent humor is ridiculous and can even be the clever joke disguised, and that would require you to figure out what it is through your second to fifth watch

I will at the very least say that there are principles of comedy like comedy coming in threes, never make fun of people that don't deserve it, and the humor bell curve of Stupid and Clever

Monty Phyton is an example of clever comedy

The Waterboy is an example of stupid comedy

the idea is that with comedy you can lean either to clever or stupid but not go onto the middle unless you want your humor to be tepid

It disproves a lot of the ideas that your humor has to be only clever in order to consider it good but not everyone is sophisticated or even interested in getting the joke, and vice versa for stupid jokes

not everyone is gonna be as lenient or even have low standards to consider it funny

and just like how standards and taste is subjective, so is comedy

and further more THERE ARE NO RULES TO COMEDY and there shouldn't be or else comedy won't innovate and people like George Carlin and Trevor Moore would be out of a job

Even having jokes about touchy topics like bombings and even rape be outlawed would be ludicrous because then comedians in the future won't try to innovate those type of jokes or find a better way to make those jokes work

even with the later of the touchy jokes being the hardest to make work, I figure you just have the joke be at the expense at the rapist rather than the victim, even if some people miss the point of and laugh with the butt of the joke, which is the rapist

See what I mean, what could be considered taboo and risqué to some can be seen as an opportunity to make it work and even with handy principles, and I feel we need to make fun of some of these Hollywood bigshots and politicians that are rapists by putting a mirror towards them

Trevor Moore of The Whitest Kids You Know revolutionized those types of risqué jokes with "The Grapist" skit which the humor relies on how inept this executive is amongst how even some executives will support anything regardless of how direct about it's disturbing undertones. It shows off a realistic reaction to an idea that is just as messed up as the executive who thought of it and it's one way of using taboo subject material as humor

Back in George Carlin's time, it was taboo to make jokes about bad words and sex, but then so many people came along and made them anyway and it's shaped how people approach crude and lowbrow humor

Which is why I consider the crudeness if Fixed to be fine

It's more so ridiculous amongst absurd because it's showing how ridiculous being horny is when it's dogs doing it rather than humans

and so far that's the whole point, that dogs are crazy and live crazy and for all I know we may never know if there's any real substance, except for those who went to Annecy and saw it

Hold your horses people

and maybe, just maybe admit that lowbrow humor isn't for you and move on instead of punishing the crew and director for making something you don't like

It's not an objective flaw on their end, you just hate crude humor

It's Subjective

Subjectivity is one of the most underappreciated parts of being a critic and as some movies, shows, and games have objective flaws holding them back, we don't all have to see eye to eye on every media opinion we have

The task of a critic's words is not just to point out a flaw they didn't notice at first glance, it's to also share their perspective on it they way they see it without influence of a third party

It's why Rebeltaxi and ToonrificTariq are good critics, they look at stuff people aren't willing to give a chance on and they don't really shame people who think otherwise

and unlike a lot of critics, they show how much more passionate for reviewing they are by being good animators rather than ranstona drawing hacks

Which is why I hate whenever people make not getting a certain type of humor a flaw on a piece of media's part rather than their perspective

With that being said, I would've like to stop here and just talk about how maybe comedy is subjective and that not everyone should dislike crude humor just because they're told to

I would've like to have people maybe just admit their perspectives tell them that crude and raunchy humor just isn't for them

but no, you guys just have to take things too far didn't you

I present to you raving loonatics

Hurray, death threats

Hurray, Slander

Yay, we sure haven't changed since Post Mr Enter internet

people are still sending death threats (or desiring to do so) towards animators
people are still slandering people who like and or worked on a movie by calling them zoophiles
people are still wishing for the death of artist's careers

Yep, we as a species haven't changed at all

The Animation Strikes mean nothing
The Change The Channel Document means nothing
The Casey Alexander incident means nothing
The Zach Bellissimo incident means nothing
The Jesse Zuke incident means nothing
The Ian Jones Quartey incident means nothing
The death of Brett Merhar means nothing
The death threats Teen Titans Go artists and writers get mean nothing
and the less I say about The Hellaverse the better

Nuance is dead on the internet as long as someone can just try to threaten people for attention

people really want to reward bad behavior, don't they
Next they're gonna shoot up a studio for the sake of "making animation great again" or some bullshit

Guys, I shouldn't even have to say this at this point

You shouldn't be talking about animation if this is the mental state you're gonna approach it with

Who is for killing animators?

I don't care if you're on the internet and it gives you some type of ambiguity
I don't care about the social contract of "bigger" people never "punching down" (As if Genndy is Trump)

wanting to kill and animator is not the same as wanting to kill a politician

You're crazy, you need to be locked up

It would be better if you were joking, but no, you're dead serious

stop talking about animation if this is how you approach talking about it

you're killing what nuance there is about the discussion by making it into a pissing contest of who can look the most criminally insane

But then again, I guess I shouldn't be surprised when we will literally defend actual zoophiles who make ships of Hiccup and Toothless from How to Train your Dragon

We call people who like a raunchy dog movie where the comedy comes from how stupid the dogs looking being raunchy Zoophiles but then defend some sicko zoophile who ships a feral dragon and a human boy into fucking each other

and their defense is that "Oh, Toothless talks in this one" but that still doesn't change anything

here's a diagram that disproves Chai the Zoophile's point, albeit from the perspective of a basic bitch furry

that would be like if you shipped Johnny Test with Dukey

It's still a feral dog who can talk yet walks on his hind legs and wears clothes

Fixed is nothing like this

speaking of defending shitty people

People bring up Andrew Dobson as a talking point for "mature entertainment"
yep, this dipstick
Thanks for making my blog longer you stupid blue fuck

Yes, you heard it hear folks, people bring up Andrew's point on Mature stories or even just Adult Animation

And while the comic's art style sucks and the point isn't wrong (especially for the time it was made), I think people have this rotted into their brains to hard that people can't help but to parrot it every time, and I mean EVERY TIME something raunchy or edgy is being made these days

They constantly do it with any Spindelhorse cartoon or Seth MacFarlane cartoon

and they did it with Fixed as well

yet I constantly feel that what we think the status quo of this thought process is now the reverse where people just hate raunchy and shocking stuff or just pure shocking and raunchy stuff instead of maybe admitting that maybe it's just not their sense of humor, their not it's audience, and that comedy is subjective

I get I've been repeating that phrase a lot, but I do it deliberately because you have people like in the previous screenshots of threats posted early on that insist on slandering, killing, or even ostracizing anyone who thinks differently from them

and it's not like they're a Zionist or even a Nazi, they just like a stupid and raunchy movie

Maybe just let people enjoy things
That phrase was coined because of intolerant and criminally insane psychopaths like you bullying people who differ from you

And stop giving that blue bear any credibility, It's still Andrew Dobson

It's like agreeing with Butch Hartman on something

Anyway, that probably begs the question, what did I think about Fixed?

Well, I'll tell you

(AFTER FIXED FINALLY RELEASES)

(SPOILER ALERT LADIES)

(GO WATCH IT SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND COME BACK WHEN YOU'RE DONE WATCHING IT FOR YOURSELVES)

(I'M WARNING YOU)

Ok, So what did I think about Fixed?

Well

I loved it

In between all the raunchiness, disgusting jokes, disturbing scenes, and even some cheap usage of swearing, I still saw the heart

It was still a heartfelt movie that showcased Bull's devotion towards Honey and how the balls don't make the dog and how being different is awesome

It's a message we've all heard before in typical kids movies, but I think it does it in the best way because Bull as a character isn't a loser nor is he really controlled as a loose cannon

Bull, played by Adam DeVine of Workaholics and Uncle Grandpa, is a powerhouse that acts as the de-facto leader of his wonky friend group consisting of Rocco, Played by Idris Elba, Fetch, played by Fred Armisen who I normally am indifferent about but he's good in here, and Lucky, played by Bobby Moynihan

Out of the 3, I like Rocco the most

He's the stern and muscular voice of reason who often acts as Bull's second in command when he's gone, and often is a good motivator towards other dogs

Fetch is also good, he's a social media dog who instead of being the butt of social media jokes, mainly tries so hard to act like a human

Even is he is played by a jazz hater, I will say he's not as annoying as I thought he would be with these types of characters

Pretentiously annoying characters can often be annoying if not done properly like with Brainy Smurf from The Smurfs (Oh the Irony Fred)

but Fetch seems more like a goober who loves talking about how he's a social media dog and the writers seem to know how to write subtle scenes

Give them some credit, they could've had him talk about how he was in a tiktok dance or with screaming goats like a certain rodent company's bastardization of a once beloved movie icon

Lucky I first thought in my first viewing that he was the weak link in the movie because he eats shit and that's kind of a cheap joke, but he turns out to be the unconventional one who loves getting dirty, even if it's about shit

yet he's also just so accepting of his situations and remains to be the pride and joy of the group, even if he's disgusting

then again, dogs can be disgusting

Nevertheless, there's a beautiful scene regarding someone he plowed that I won't spoil it for you because he's just so accepting of his intersex lover and I'm gonna be honest, I almost cried because they were so accepting of each other

it's real love

not to mention they actually got an intersex non-binary person for the role so it feels authentic

Anyway, other characters include Honey, played by newcomer who can act Kathryn Hahn, and Sterling played by Beck Bennett and I think they serve their purposes well

Sterling is the asshole who comedically loves himself and loves being an inbred nonunique Borzoi

and Honey is very understanding love interest trope who I feel always loved Bull despite his nervousness

And then there's Luther played by Aaron LaPlante (a regal voice actor), the catalyst in the main conflict who is a well meaning Great Dane who reminds Bull's friends of their castration

To be honest, I think the characters are neat

Not the best thing I've ever seen, but neat

The characters are somewhat typical, but I still love them

The trope characters here are charming

Remember, Tropes can either hinder or help your story, but there is nothing wrong with having tropes

as long as it's not obnoxious and has some interesting qualities about them

And they don't annoy me nor do they lull me to sleep

It's alright

The characters are charismatic and are interesting in their own way, even if some are better than others

To summarize the movie though

Bull realizes after going to the park and bumping into Luther that the dogs in his neighborhood get castrated after their owners give them a celebration, and Bull then realizes it after being thrown a party to him, so he gives up his whole life and then becomes feral up until his friends come in to give him the best last night of his life before he gets Fixed

of course though it does fall for the misunderstanding breakup with Honey and Bull, yet is saved by how loyal and distraught Bull is about distrusting Honey, even Bull doesn't want to give up Honey for some other dog

and then Bull and Honey fuck

THE END

To be honest, I thought it was alright

It's a love story/guys night out story but with dogs

and I think it's handled surprisingly mature despite it's raunchy and crude demeanor

even with how much the dogs want to fuck and be dirty, there's still a sense of humanity in the characters

especially Bull

You'd think with the personality like Bull and even an amazing performance by Adam DeVine that he would be unbearable, but instead he's one of the most human characters in the movie, even more human than the humans

Bull experiences guilt, frustration, disgust, anger, distraught, regret, remorse, loyalty, triumph, depression, and even pleasure

He was especially regretful when he almost left Honey for some filthy mutt, and then felt remorseful about it so then he uses his triumph to take the blow for Honey (literally) and feels instant disgust afterwards but shakes it right off

I'm glad that scene that I'll never spoil wasn't as traumatic though

It's kind of disturbing, but It could've been so much worse

and even then, Bull didn't feel much so that could be telling of Sterling's assets

To be honest though

Where this movie fails is some of the usage of the word fuck or fucking because it's kind of the cheapest swear word anyone can bring, yet I felt they used it liberally unlike some Youtubers

I felt the swearing to be kind of weak since it alone isn't comedy rather it's what you add to the swearing or the delivery as well

but I felt they knew when they had to censor themselves and stop themselves from cursing so much unlike a lot of Judd Apatow movies

funnily enough, this movie was inspired by Judd Apatow movies like The 40 Year old Virgin or Superbad

So I can't be to surprised that it wouldn't be the funniest movie to some

Look, cursing and sex is an acquired taste, and again, comedy is subjective and not everyone will laugh at the same thing and not everyone will hate the same thing

I say this a lot, yet people fixate a lot on the former rather than the latter which I feel is important to the human condition considering that people constantly ostracize and pressure people into liking media they like instead of just agreeing to disagree

And look, if the media is glorified child porn like Big Mouth

if the media is racist like Jeff Dunham's Achmed the Dead

if the media encourages people to become assholes like the worst of Rick and Morty or South Park

than I can see where someone may want to enlighten them on how wrong they are

and there's nothing wrong with enlightening someone on why an episode where Rick Gaslights Jerry into thinking he's an abuser despite his suffering never being answered or a South Park episode where they derail and deny global warming for 22 minutes

but could you let someone like a stupid raunchy dog movie, it's not even that problematic or even sending the wrong messages unless you love fucking dogs

Look, I shouldn't have to tell anyone that zoophilia is wrong and if you're a genuine zoophile that you need to fuck off from this movie

but liking this movie doesn't and shouldn't make you a zoophile

that's like saying Sausage Party makes you want to fuck food

Speaking of which, I see some similarities between Sausage Party and Fixed

but while I like both, I do think Fixed was better

Seth Rogen may be an entertaining figure to laugh at

Fixed's storytelling, pacing, and even dialogue I felt was more subtle by comparison, and even at all

Sausage Party had so many instances of people saying Fuck or swearing that you'd probably die if you did a drinking game

yet Fixed I felt sweared like Sausage Party, but knew when to take a break from cursing to let out some natural and subtle dialogue

even having moments where the audience can breathe before crazy stuff happens

Sausage Party has pauses, yet it constantly curses and says fuck

nevertheless, I can safely say that both do curse and have sex in it so it's similar I guess

now I could also talk about the usage of licensed music, but then I'd be talking about how most animated movies as far back as even say Heavy Metal or even The Digimon Movie's English version use licensed music for soundtracks

Nevertheless, The raunchiness wasn't the funniest thing about the movie, but I never felt like it was unnecessary

not like you have to have a point with these things though, that would just be pretentious

things just happen and not everyone's gonna see something as useless

however, there was a narrative purpose for fucking in the movie

Bull is gonna have his nuts cut from him and he has to fuck something fast in order to make his last days with his nuts worth while

so I can't say that the dog sex was irreverence for irreverence sake

as if I would ever want there to be a reason for sex scenes or anything

Look guys, there is no rule book that says something can't be raunchy for raunchy sake

there are no rules for comedy no matter how you think comedy works
Hell, anything I say in the review/rant you can take it with a grain of salt since it's still my opinion

Nevertheless, you will never see me act like I'm better because I find Aqua Teen Hunger Force better than South Park

I at the very least respect people's opinions, even when they go against my principles of being an animator

Look

I gotta address the elephant in the room

The Animation is friggin awesome

I love how smooth it get's even if this was half animated by Renegade Animation who often animate for stuff like Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi or The Mr Men Show

However, to me it feels like TV Animation that has been given a massive budget
Like almost bigger than The Treasury's Money Banks

However, not everyone is impressed with good animation, especially these days because of this criticism people have with movies like this

"Style over Substance"

I hate this criticism
I get that having a strong story can help save a cartoon and keeps things from losing focus, but I see this criticism be thrown around by Bojack Horseman/Rick and Morty fans and similar bad looking shows alike who only succeed due to their "good writing"

or the fact that these types of cartoons make you think or cry I guess

and look, I get that animation has this weird perception of being seen as only for kids and it creates this animation ghetto mindset of having kids cartoons being childproofed and for literal babies whereas adult cartoons are needlessly bloody, edgy, raunchy, and mean

and in turn pigeonholes artists into positions where they need to arbitrarily do this rather than doing something on their own accord

I get it, you want more mature and subtle adult animation and we got plenty like Moral Orel, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Venture Bros, Home Movies, Mission Hill, Duckman, The Oblongs, 3 South, Smiling Friends, King of the Hill, and even Beavis and Butthead

and even if you feel like there aren't enough, that doesn't mean there's some boogeyman cartoon trying to replace every subtle cartoon with a more direct and hornier cartoon

It's the same argument with Comedic Cartoons vs Action Cartoons

always creating strawmen and fake discourse against cartoons that have nothing to do with the cancellation of a cartoon thus creating rumor mill crap about how "This crew has beef with this crew" and painting the picture of a perpetual pissing contest of who can top the next animator by making something "animation is cinema" losers would praise as The Sacred Cow of animation above all

contrary to popular belief, the majority of the animation industry has their backs and no matter what cartoon they work on, they'll always be friends

Anyway, a raunchy or even a comedic cartoon is never gonna replace a mature action cartoon and vice versa

and there are still action cartoons, you just gotta know where to look

Essentially a genre can't replace another genre, which is why I don't consider Fixed to be a step back

We barely get any R Rated animated movies, let alone any 2D Animated ones, so I can't necessarily say it's 3 steps back

It's not the most impressive movie

not even the funniest

but I do feel it benefits the visual medium as it adds a layer of sincereness in addition to all of it's crude dog sex and swearing

You do get a feel that Bull and his friends are friends and want what's best for Bull before his castration

and you do want Bull to get together with Honey because he constantly holds off on fucking other dogs

and look, this movie isn't for everyone, but I can't say it's for no one or even say "who is it for" as that also goes against my belief that cartoons are made for the cartoonist

in 1995, You'd have to hate The Powerpuff Girls because a focus group said so and we all know focus testing is more reliable than the artist who made the cartoon

But I will say this, in-between the horny exterior, is a subtle film about perseverance and rebellion

So I don't buy that this movie can just sacrifice their visuals for better writing or that it did the opposite

the world doesn't work that way

and even then, this brings up a misconception to this idea that people don't seem to grasp

Animation is a VISUAL medium

let me say it again

Animation is a VISUAL medium

We can say over and over again that good screenwriting and story makes animation good or gives it focus

but the fact is anyone can write a cartoon, it takes an artist and animator to really craft it's look, not some life drawing hack on Instagram

Even if The Looney Tunes or even some Soviet Films have stories and or some witty dialogue, it still focuses on it's animation

Seriously, who watches The Looney Tunes for the plot, you're a loser

If the Looney Tunes looked like Bojack Horseman and was animated in puppet rigs, it wouldn't be as memorable or influential

Look, I get that some people are looking for stuff that hits towards more mature topic and even "gives the mature topics the gravitas it deserves" and even looks for symbolism in stuff, and art is political

at the same time, people are too overcritical these days

they can't even talk about a cartoon they love without pointing out every flaw it has

even as someone who mainly just uses this blogging site as a venting mechanism to voice my feeling towards cartoons I see, I still know when not to treat things like it was made for adults or made for snooty artistic types

I can't compare something like Fixed to Animal Farm not just because they do different things, but also one is trying to be stupid while the other is trying to be smart

and neither are inferior, but still incomparable as those are 2 different approaches

With that all said, I'm in the ballpark of not watching anything by Raphael Bob-Waksberg or Lisa Hanawalt for that matter not just because Raphael isn't an animator or artist or that Lisa isn't that good of a cartoonist, but also the cartoons they make all look like crap no matter how much Aaron Long is inserted into them

And look, complain all you want about my opinions, but Moral Orel does all the existential and Depressing satire and commentary better than Bojack or Long Story Short and it looks better

If you want good writing in animation, then you better expect some type of good visuals as well

To expect Writing to be the main step for the visual medium I feel is disingenuous towards any discussion about the visual medium and just encourages cartoonists not to try at all when making their cartoons and only care about writing like Vince Gilligan

and look, just because a cartoon makes me think or cry doesn't make it good like I said earlier

But yeah

I would rather watch something like this

Over this

And no matter what LS Mark or Butch Hartman has to say about animation, animators and cartoonists make the cartoon and animation

and by cartoonist I mean a good cartoonist, not you Lisa!

Anyway

If it has to look realistic and such, than take cues from King of The Hill

Have good animation even if you have a realistic art style, even Mike Judge knew this

Hell, The Revival's animation, while rigged, still has natural movements that fit what the original show was going for, even if I felt it could've looked so much better with Rough Draft or even eMation animating for it like the latter did with Hanks' appearance on Family Guy

and no don't you dare say Adventure Time or even Steven Universe's art styles stink

your "calarts" or "bean mouth" strawmen of cartoons at least have a style

and a damn good one

Pen worked for making his cartoon a reality, so suck it!

Any Dan Harmon or Raphael Bob-Waksberg cartoon is flavorless and has a bland semi-real art style

I often don't want to watch those types of cartoons

The only reason why I chose to watch Mr. Birchum is out of curiosity and because I wanted to review it

This is my blogger and I don't do requests nor do I review all things that are new

It's all a matter of if I want to review them, which is how I think cartoon critics should function

Anway, what do I give Fixed

dunno, some dog biscuits
anti-diarrheal
bacon strips

and a solid 7/10

What it lacks in humor it makes up for in visuals
and even then, it surprised me how genuine the movie was
I was expecting to see nothing but dog sex after some jackass I overheard on social media said it lacked substance

sucks to be them, I actually watched this movie

Yep, go ahead and give that dog a bone

I'll see you when my Squirrel Boy or Ren Seeks Help reviews come in

See Ya everyone
